Allswell’s Services in Maryland
Allswell serves clients all over Maryland, from Baltimore and Annapolis to the DC-adjacent communities of Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Rockville, out to Frederick, Columbia, and everywhere in between.
You can work with us in two ways, both rooted in LGBTQ+ affirming care: individual therapy and support groups.
Online, individual LGBTQ+ therapy
Individual therapy is private, one-on-one work with a licensed therapist over secure video. It's your space to talk through what's on your mind, name what you want to change, and move toward it at a pace that suits you.
Your first appointment, the Welcome Session, lasts 60 minutes, and the sessions that follow run 45 minutes, typically once a week. Because every Allswell therapist is trained in affirming, trauma-informed care, showing up as yourself is simply how it works from the start.
Online LGBTQ+ support groups
Support groups gather a small circle of people facing similar things, with an Allswell therapist guiding the conversation. Groups run in 6-week cycles with the same faces each week, and each session starts with a short lesson before opening into discussion and practice.
Groups meet online, and our Care Coordinators can tell you what's currently running and how a group might fit into your treatment plan.

How Allswell Approaches Care

Affirming care is the standard.
The American Psychological Association and WPATH recognize affirming care as the professional standard, and at Allswell it's something therapists are screened for in hiring, trained on after, and observed on in ongoing supervision.

Minority stress is a clinical reality.
The accumulated cost of staying guarded, being dismissed, or bracing for the next comment is real, measurable, and treatable. Allswell therapists work with minority stress directly.

Evidence-based methods are adapted to your treatment plan.
Approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) are proven, and Allswell adapts them to your treatment plan.

Trauma gets treated, not just handled gently.
Allswell practices trauma-focused care, including Written Exposure Therapy (WET), a brief, structured protocol with strong evidence and low dropout, with deeper work beginning only once you have steady footing.

You'll both know whether it's working.
Brief validated check-ins at intake and every 60 days give you and your therapist a shared, honest read on progress. When the picture says something needs to change, the plan changes.

Care includes company.
Isolation makes nearly everything on this page worse, so Allswell runs small, therapist-led skills groups alongside individual sessions, because some things heal faster in the company of people who understand.
Paying for Online LGBTQ+ Therapy in Maryland
Allswell takes both Medicaid and commercial insurance in Maryland.
We'll check your benefits before your first session and give you a clear cost estimate ahead of time, so nothing catches you off guard.
Insurance Allswell takes in Maryland
For clients in Maryland, Allswell is in-network with these plans:
- Maryland Medicaid: We accept every managed care organization, including Aetna Better Health of Maryland, Jai Medical Systems, Maryland Physicians Care, MedStar Family Choice, Kaiser Permanente, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and Priority Partners.
- UnitedHealthcare: Commercial UnitedHealthcare plans are accepted, with behavioral health handled through Optum.
- CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield: Accepted for Maryland clients, including many out-of-state plans that fall under the Maryland CareFirst network.
- Cigna / Evernorth: Commercial Cigna plans are accepted, with mental health benefits run through Evernorth.
Other payment options
Even if we're out-of-network with your plan, reimbursement may still be possible. We can give you a superbill, an itemized receipt you send to your insurer to file an out-of-network claim, though what comes back depends on your plan.
Paying out of pocket is also an option. Self-pay runs $175 for the first intake session and $125 for each session after that, and we take Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards.
Meet Allswell’s Maryland-Licensed Therapists
We vet every Allswell therapist closely, both for clinical skill and for the ability to offer care that's genuinely affirming.
That means real experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, including transgender and non-binary clients, along with training in evidence-based methods such as eye movement desensitizing and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), among others. Once you begin, we'll pair you with a Maryland-licensed therapist suited to what you're looking for.
