Locations We Serve
Because therapy is regulated by location, where you are during your session matters, even when you’re meeting online. Your therapist must be licensed in the state where you’re physically located at the time of your appointment. Allswell currently serves clients in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
Here’s a closer look at where we work now and where we hope to expand next.

Who we serve
States Allswell Currently Operates In
Allswell currently serves clients in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Our therapists are licensed in these areas, and you'll need to be physically located in one of them during your session.
We accept both commercial insurance and Medicaid in all three areas. Depending on your plan, therapy can cost as little as $0 per session. Each state has its own page with the insurance plans we accept there and what you can expect to pay.
Allswell’s Future Service Areas
Allswell started in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area, but our goal is to bring affirming, accessible therapy to LGBTQ+ communities well beyond it. Good, affirming care is hard to find in a lot of places, and we want to change that for as many people as we can, as responsibly as we can.
If you're outside our current service area, you can join our waitlist. We'll reach out when we're licensed in your state so you can get started. Adding your name also helps us understand where the need is greatest, which shapes where we expand next.

Allswell’s Clinical Model, Wherever You Are

Your therapist is licensed where you are.
Allswell matches you with a therapist who’s licensed in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC, depending on where you live. That’s a legal requirement of telehealth, but it’s only the starting point. Your therapist also needs the experience and training to provide the kind of care you came for.

Online care has to be a good clinical fit.
Before you begin, Allswell looks at whether virtual therapy makes sense for your situation, including whether you have enough privacy and whether online sessions offer the right level of support. Telehealth isn’t treated as the default simply because it’s convenient.

The same standards apply in every location.
Whether you’re in Baltimore, Richmond, Anacostia, or a smaller community, you’ll receive care grounded in American Psychological Association and WPATH guidance. The same expectations around affirming care, evidence-based treatment, progress check-ins, and access to support groups apply across every state and district we serve.

Reaching people with fewer local options is part of the point.
Affirming therapists can be much easier to find in larger cities than in smaller towns. Because Allswell is fully online, you can work with the same carefully vetted, LGBTQ+ affirming clinicians without having to live near a major metropolitan area. For many of our clients, that access is the reason virtual care matters.
