Allswell's Services in Virginia
Allswell offers virtual care to clients across Virginia, from the Northern Virginia suburbs of Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax to Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and the communities in between.
Because care is fully virtual, you can work with a Virginia-licensed therapist no matter where in the state you live. Allswell provides two main services: individual online therapy and support groups, both grounded in LGBTQ+ affirming care.
Online, individual LGBTQ+ therapy
Individual therapy is one-on-one work between you and a licensed therapist, held over secure video. Your sessions are a private space to talk through whatever brought you to therapy, set goals, and work toward them at a pace that feels right.
Your first session, called a Welcome Session, runs 60 minutes, and ongoing sessions are 45 minutes, typically weekly. Every Allswell therapist is trained in LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed care, so you can bring your full self to your therapy sessions.
Online LGBTQ+ support groups
Support groups run for 6 weeks and bring together small groups of people working through similar experiences, guided by an Allswell therapist.
Support groups offer something individual therapy can't: the chance to connect with others who understand what you're dealing with. Groups meet virtually, and our Care Coordinators can let you know which ones are currently open and whether one fits your treatment plan.

How Allswell Approaches Care

Affirming care is built into the standard of care.
The American Psychological Association and WPATH recognize affirming care as a professional standard. Allswell screens for it during hiring, trains therapists in it afterward, and continues to reinforce it through clinical supervision, so the quality of your care doesn't depend on which therapist you're matched with.

Proven methods are adapted to your treatment plan.
Approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) are backed by decades of evidence. Allswell therapists adapt them to your identity, circumstances, and goals rather than expecting you to fit neatly into a standard method.

Trauma care is active, structured, and paced.
Trauma-informed care here means more than creating a gentle environment. Allswell provides structured trauma treatment, with Written Exposure Therapy (WET) as a primary approach. WET is brief and carefully guided, and deeper processing begins only after you and your therapist have built enough steadiness to take it on safely.

Support groups are part of the plan.
Small, therapist-led support groups run alongside individual therapy. You'll meet with the same group over a six-week cycle, learn practical skills, and have space for the parts of healing that can only happen in connection with other people.

We measure progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
You'll complete brief, validated check-ins when you begin and about every 60 days after that, and your therapist will review the results with you. If something isn't changing, the treatment plan changes with it.

Meet Allswell's Virginia-Licensed Therapists
Every Allswell therapist is carefully vetted for their clinical experience and their ability to provide genuinely affirming care. We look for therapists with real experience supporting LGBTQ+ clients, including transgender and non-binary clients, and training in evidence-based approaches like eye movement desensitizing and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and more.
