Joi is a psychotherapist who helps people make sense of life when it feels anything but sensible. Her work centers on anxiety, trauma, relationships, and uplifting underserved communities—basically, the places where life gets complicated and support matters most.
Her path to therapy isn’t one-note. With academic roots in criminal justice, sociology, and rehabilitation counseling—and degrees from Boston University, Rutgers University, and the University of the District of Columbia—Joi brings a wide-angle lens to human behavior. She doesn’t just look at what’s happening; she considers why, how, and what it means in the bigger picture.
In session, Joi blends evidence-based approaches with a trauma-informed mindset, tailoring her style to fit the person in front of her (not the other way around). She’s big on creating a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest—even about the messy stuff—and supported enough to actually do something about it.
Her approach is thoughtful, culturally aware, and refreshingly human. The goal isn’t just to “get through it,” but to grow through it—building resilience, clarity, and a stronger sense of self along the way.
