Erica McSwain (she/they) is a trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and crisis-care professional with deep roots in community-based support. She supports individuals across the lifespan who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship stress, and the lasting impact of trauma, especially when those concerns are compounded by identity-based stress, burnout, or feeling like you have to stay high functioning no matter what.
Erica has a special interest in supporting LGBTQ+ clients, particularly BIPOC individuals, and helping people strengthen self-trust, communication, boundaries, and emotional regulation. She offers affirming, judgment-free care that honors the complexity of identity, family systems, culture, and lived experience.
Erica’s integrative approach draws from Adlerian therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), existential therapy, narrative therapy, and person-centered care, grounded in a trauma-informed lens. She also incorporates art-based interventions when helpful to support expression and meaning-making. Sessions may include practical coping tools, values-based goal setting, reframing unhelpful patterns, and building skills that support healthier relationships and more grounded day-to-day functioning. Erica creates space for clients to tell and reframe their stories into one of pride, possibility, and self-compassion. With a background in crisis intervention and suicide prevention, she brings a steady, compassionate presence to difficult conversations while helping clients move toward meaningful and sustainable change.
Erica believes healing is not about fixing yourself. It is about reconnecting with who you are, what you value, and what you need to live more freely and fully. She invites you to show up as your whole self and build a life that honors the person you were meant to be.
